Destination Manawatu

Destination Manawatu is the Regional Tourism Organisation responsible for economic development, from a tourism perspective, for Palmerston North City and the Manawatu Region.  It is funded by Palmerston North City Council, Manawatu District Council and local businesses.

Our goal is to establish Manawatu as a compelling visitor destination and Palmerston North City as a national and international gateway.

Six BIG Goals by 2015

• Lead the campaign to improve Palmerston North City's Sense of Place and Manawatu's image as a place to live, work, play, study, visit and invest in.
• Use the Web as a key marketing channel to establish Manawatu as a compelling visitor destination.
• Develop a touring route that travels through Feilding and Palmerston North City.
• Work with the business community to establish Palmerston North City as a sustainable international air hub.
• Double Manawatu's market share of conferences and conventions.
• Collaborate to secure six annual events of national and one of international significance.

The Destination Manawatu team is committed to minimizing environmental impacts, both within our own organisation and by aligning ourselves with environmentally responsible Member businesses and suppliers.  We support our Members to achieve Qualmark's environmental accreditation, and the local Going Greener recycling programme run by Palmerston North City Council.  We welcome all visitors to our Region and encourage them to tread lightly.
