- Safety first, make sure you have the appropriate safety gear. Helmets are a must!
- As with all NZ weather, the Manawatu climate can change quickly so make sure you wear layers of clothing to suit all weather conditions. This means you can add or remove layers as necessary.
- Take plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated. Water or sports drink are best, but it is down to your personal preference.
- Make sure you have snacks with you, even if you are only going on a short ride, it is important to keep your energy levels up. Plan ahead too, as you may be riding near some great picnic spots in which case you’ll want to pack some lunch.
- Always tell someone where you are going, and how long you expect to be. It is also a good idea to carry a cellphone with you when riding.
