Menz Shed Haven

The open day for the new Menz Shed in Awapuni was a real community occasion, drawing together Palmerston North City locals in a welcoming environment over a hearty sausage sizzle.

Menz Shed is a fantastic facility - an attractive building located on a large park in 'tip top' condition. Here's a link to a story that Manawatu Standard ran about how all this came about.

I enjoyed going along to the open day and meeting the organisers and future users of Menz Shed. One man I spoke to recently had a change in his home circumstances leaving him at a loose end. Sadly, his wife had to go into a home. He's upbeat though and I get the impression that the Menz Shed will become a big part of his life. The Menz Shed is truly a blokes' haven where they can tinker and talk away to their heart's content.

I enjoy getting out and about and meeting people, being active and participating in a variety of activities and events in the Region.  I especially love being in the know on events and helping spreading the word.

I'm passionate about Manawatu.  Being an import (I grew up  in Gisborne and Wairarapa), I have experienced the welcoming friendliness of Manawatu people and have made lasting friendships, which keep me here.  I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
