- Number one safety tip, need we say it... Always wear your safety helmet!
- Whether you are going for a short ride or a long one, make sure you have plenty of snacks and drinks to take with you. Water or a light sports drink will keep you hydrated, while light snacks will keep your energy levels up. Experiment with snacks, as everyone has a personal preference as to what works for them.
- Layer up! As with all New Zealand weather, the Manawatu winds can be non-existent one minute, then bellowing the next! Likewise with the rain, sun and everything in between. Make sure you have appropriate clothing, lightweight, layered clothing is much better than one heavyweight layer. You can take off or put on the layers as needed.
