"On the Ball" by Ceol Manawatu

A group of local acoustic players, known as Ceol Manawatu, tackled the task to reinvent the song "On the Ball", which was originally composed in 1887 by Edward W Secker, a Palmerston North accountant.  Mr Secker was the captain of the Manawatu rep team, referred to as the "Un-score-ables".  The song became famouse during 1888, when the native team toured Britain.

Local film-maker, Richard Torres and founder of Ceol Manawatu, Paul Turner created the video, which features footage from an old-timer Palmy Army match at Palmerston North's FMG Stadium.  To find out more, check out the article by Manawatu Standard.
