Awapuni Racing Centre

Awapuni Racing Centre is the home of four local racing clubs and 17 race meetings and over $2m in prize money.

The four local racing Clubs are Manawatu Racing Club, Marton Jockey Club, Feilding Jockey Club and Rangitikei Racing Club. The four Clubs operate jointly through Awapuni Partnership of Racing Clubs.

Awapuni Racing Centre is the home of four local racing clubs and 17 race meetings. Racing has been staged at Awapuni for 100 years and with the excellent facilities now available oncourse attracts a large number of visitors and regular racegoers.

Awapuni hosts 17 racemeetings throughout the year with total prizemoney of $2.26 million. Major events include the three day Manawatu Racing Club Christmas carnival through December, the Ford Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes meeting in April, the Feilding Gold Cup in early November and the Marton Cup in January.

Awapuni is the largest thoroughbred training Centre in the Central Region of New Zealand with approx 220 horses in work.
