Victoria Esplanade

Victoria Esplanade is a beautiful and extensive inner city park adjacent to Manawatu River opened to mark Queen Victoria's 60th Jubilee.
The gardens comprise the following features: a cherry drive, an avenue of phoenix palms, Rhododendrons & Camellia Garden, plant displays, Dugald McKenzie rose garden, conservatory housing a range of tropical and sub-tropical plants, bird aviaries, nature trails, with a number of walks, a large duck pond, free barbeque facilities and children’s paddling pool and playground. The rose garden has over 5,500 varieties and incorporates the International Rose Trial Grounds. There are walkways and a miniature railway through native bush.

The onsite cafe, Cafe Esplande, does fabulous coffee and food. Phone +64 6 355 0146 for the cafe.
