Fern Walk
One of Totara Reserve's greatest assets is the Fern Walk - a 5km track situated on the South-Eastern block of the reserve on Pohangina Valley East Road.
The walk takes about 2 hours.
It is advised that people take a drink and wear sturdy walking shoes.
Expect to see tawa and totara trees. Kiekie, astelia, kowhai and beech are prominent on the narrow spur that links the lowland with the plateau.
Facilities include an environmentally friendly public toilet.
