Historic Highlights Ruapuna Park & Museum

Ruapuna Park & Museum

Ruapuna Park comprises beautiful gardens, a replica of the owner's grandmother's cottage and museum-like collections of farming equipment.

Situated at 600m, these gardens feature mature trees, including monkey puzzles and maples. A 1,000 year old totara is under planted with olearias and rengarenga lilies. Primulas and trilliums give early colour, with camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas following. Two ponds flow into the moat, which is highlighted by bridges, and edged with hostas and irises. Peonies, cardiocrinum giganteum and dahlias feature in the summer as do fuchsias. Cottage and herb gardens surround Granny's Cottage Museum, which will take you back to yester-year with its fascinating collection of all things pioneer. Doves fly free while the aviary has finches and bourkes, and the snow-capped Ruahine Ranges in the back ground are enhanced by the autumn colours. This really is a gardener’s paradise.
