Palmerston North will come together to honour the sacrifices of New Zealand’s servicemen and women this Anzac Day, Friday 25 April.
The city’s official commemorations will take place in Te Marae o Hine – The Square, with the Dawn Service at 6:00am, followed by the Civic Service at 9:00am.
As part of the Civic Service, we’re inviting schools and community groups to get involved and show their respects by signing up to take part in the Anzac Day parade and/or laying a wreath. Fill out this form (insert link) if your school or community group are interested in being involved in the service.
These services provide an opportunity for the community to unite in remembrance, reflect on the courage of those who served, and acknowledge the freedoms we enjoy today.
A range of additional Anzac Day services will be held across the city and wider region, including:
Ashhurst: 6:00am & 12:00pm
Linton Military Camp: 6:00am
Pohangina: 10:00am
Bunnythorpe: 10:30am
Māori Battalion Hall: 10:30am
In the lead-up to Anzac Day, historian Dr Ian McGibbon will present a special talk on Tuesday 22 April at Palmerston North City Library.
The Palmerston North City Council encourages all residents and visitors to take part in these significant national commemorations. For more details on events across the city, visit our website.
