Design in Public explores the interesting considerations and conundrums of designing artwork for everyone.

Experience familiar streets through fresh eyes, hear the stories behind the artworks, and have a chance to speak to some the artists involved in Whanganui’s public art.
This series of free talks will showcase Whanganui’s creative history through public artworks designed by emerging, local and nationally significant artists in the town centre.

There will be two sessions for this event, one on foot and the other on wheels, so make sure you pick the right fit:

Tour on Foot: Friday 23rd October, 2:30-3:30pm – a short and sweet survey of 10 artworks in our arts precinct for those who prefer a stroll.

Tour on Wheels: Sunday 18th October & Sunday 25th October, 1pm-2:30pm – a tour on wheels that rolls into a wider selection of artworks. BYO bicycle or scooter, or hire a bike from the Riverboat Centre.
