Whether you’re a pro bar DJ or just tearing it up in your bedroom, the Holy Grail DJ Competition is your chance to step up to the big stage! We’re bringing Palmerston North’s ultimate DJ comp straight to the dance floor.

Drop your mix for a shot at playing at one of New Zealand’s premier nightclubs. Step up to a massive, state-of-the-art sound system, play to your friends, and own the dance floor.

HOW TO ENTER:
Email your 20 minute mix (or longer) to [email protected] along with any social media links you have.
Mix must be submitted in MP3 format.
Applicants must be 18 or over.
Entry deadline: Friday 23rd October.
Only 8 DJ Slots available.
Advise if playing on laptop or USB.
Successful candidates will be announced Monday 2nd November.
Competition lineup will be announced Friday 6th November.

RULES ON THE NIGHT:
Each DJ will have 20 minute sets.
Back 2 Backs welcome (no more then 3 DJ’s).
DJ’s may perform with an MC as part of their set.
Each DJ must be ready 5 mins before their set starts.
No headphones supplied, the DJ must supply their own.
No friends, girlfriends or emotional support pets allowed in the DJ Booth.
All DJ’s must arrive at 10pm for wristband registration & sound check.
Each DJ has VIP Access.
First set starts: 11:20pm

JUDGES: (A-Z)
Mason Spooner:
With more than a decade of experience behind the decks, Mason Spooner brings a sharp ear, broad musical knowledge and proven crowd-reading ability to the judging panel. A versatile multi-genre DJ, Mason has performed at clubs, festivals and events throughout New Zealand, including Bay Dreams and Mardi Gras Festival. As the founder of Mid Central Bass, he has also played an important role in developing the local electronic-music scene, alongside holding multiple club residencies nationwide.

Nero:
With more than 20 years behind the decks, Nero is a true veteran of the New Zealand DJ scene. As co-founder of Grooveset DJ Agency, Neru is also helping build a platform that champions DJs, curates memorable events and shapes soundscapes across Aotearoa. His depth of experience and understanding of what makes a DJ connect with an audience make him a valuable addition to the judging panel.

Steve Richards:
Steve brings decades of international DJ, club-management and event experience to the judging panel. From his early days on London’s underground radio scene, Steve has gone on to headline prestigious clubs and events worldwide. With regular appearances at London’s Ministry of Sound and performances at iconic venues & festivals including Space (Ibiza), Pacha (London), Beach Cult Live (Cyprus) and Café Opera (Stockholm). Steve also spent 20 years managing The Castle Club in Ayia Napa, helping secure Pioneer sponsorship, six consecutive DJ Mag Top 100 Club awards, and bookings from some of the industry’s biggest names. He combines a deep understanding of music, crowd connection, technical performance and what it takes to succeed in a professional club environment.
