Every year since 1982, French people gather in the streets of the country to enjoy free concerts and celebrate the arrival of summer. This year again we want to share this event, an important part of the French culture, with you.
Come and celebrate the Fête de la Musique / World Music Day with Alliance Française Palmerston North on Saturday 6 June from 2 pm to 10 pm at the Globe Theatre.
During the afternoon, you will enjoy a wide range of musical genres: from classical music to pop, rock, folk or jazz... FREE ENTRY for everyone! And in the evening, don't miss the free concert by French band La Mer at 8 pm.
La Mer is a renowned French café band based in New Zealand. Their music brings a delightful ‘je-ne-sais-quoi’ to any occasion.
Their European repertoire features cherished gypsy swing classics drawn from French Chanson, seamlessly integrating elements of Roma music. You’ll hear the unforgettable catchy rhythms of Charles Trenet and the smooth melodies of Django Reinhardt. They also include beloved songs from Edith Piaf and contemporary artists like Tatiana Eva-Marie and Zaz, inviting you to journey overseas through their music.
Bring on your dancing shoes and enjoy the music!
