This iconic event, organised by the Wanganui Harrier Club for 22 years, is now gearing up for its 23rd year and will take place on Sunday, the 6th of December 2026. Our event usually features six exciting races: the Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, 5km, 5km Relay, and the Kids 1.2km Fun Run, but this year we are proud to be hosting the Athletics NZ Marathon Chapionships in addition to our regular line-up.
The course, known for its picturesque route along the river and over Whanganui's Dublin, Cobham, and City Bridges, is officially certified and recognised worldwide. The PAK'nSAVE 3 Bridges Marathon serves as the primary source of funding for the Wanganui Harrier Club, a family-oriented organisation dedicated to providing affordable memberships for the Whanganui community. The proceeds from this event support various club activities, including subsidised trips and youth participation in events like the North Island Cross-Country Champs and Athletics NZ National events.
In 2025, we welcomed over 1,500 participants, with the majority of our events selling out. Building on this success, we aim to further accelerate our growth and momentum in 2026.
