Dirty SpoonS (Wellington)
Dirty Spoons don’t care where it’s been. They’ll stir in country, pop, and indie to make song a bit like miniskirts, you know, short enough to hold your attention but long enough to cover the essentials: death, fishing, internet dating, lost dogs – just the usual song topics. Something for everyone.
Bottom Bunk Club - A Wellington-based punk/folk trio
Bottom Bunk Club began in the early days of 2024 and have hit the ground running. They released their first single “Puke” in June 2024, and are currently recording their first EP which is due to release in November 2024. Bottom Bunk Club blends the ethos and punchy choruses of 90s/00s punk rock with the raw acoustic shredding found more commonly in folk and bluegrass. Lyrically, we strive to find the perfect balance of edgy weirdness and thoughtful vulnerability, with songs exploring topics ranging from sinking ships, hurt feelings, and Japanese sea monsters. We’ve been keeping busy with recording and gigging locally in Wellington and are looking forward to spreading our reach further across Aotearoa. What others have said:
“Bottom Bunk Club combines heavy-handed lyrical metaphors with heavy-handed chord-bashing to create catchy hooks you can’t help but sing along with.” “Like Green Day with extra edge... and I love the folk feel to this. Lovely mash up”
The Underbellies
A Palmerston North based pop-rock act, The Underbellies started as a duo in 2022 and are now performing as a full five-members band. Following their first LP "Who am I" and their blues EP "Travelin' man", The Underbellies are now in the middle of recording a brand new, synth-rich LP exploring electropop sound with multiple influences such as Depeche Mode and Gary Numan. Their show is poised to fill the room with their mix of reverberating beats, guitars and synths, and they will take the occasion to present their latest single "eighty nine", part of their upcoming electropop album. Their show includes original songs and covers of rock, blues, and electropop hits from and around the 80s. IT'S NINETEEN EIGHTY NINE!
