The Renaissance Singers Carols for Christmas concert is being performed at St Peter's Church, Ruahine Street, at 3.00 pm on Saturday, 7 December. It will follow the format of previous Christmas concerts with the opportunity for the audience to join in choruses and well known verses. The Saturday Morning Children's Choir tutored by Nigel Tongs will again be joining us as will a small number of teenage choristers who are enjoying the opportunity to sing with the seasoned adults. In addition the concert will feature Shirley Xu on piano, organist Roy Tankersley, Diana Neild on flute and Isabella Li on cello. Christine has found arrangements where the accompanying piano is gorgeous and where flute and cello get to add clarity and richness.
The selected carol arrangements are a mix of the familiar and the less so, which provide opportunity for both sing along fun and to experience composers from around the globe as they celebrate the birth of Christendom. There are times when the choir is singing more parts than the usual four and the shimmering harmonies will be a treat for audience members.
Do join us in St Peter's and if you can't make that, the concert is to be repeated in St John's Church in Feilding the next day, 8 December, again at 3.00 pm. There is parking round the back of both St Peter's and St John's.
The concert will be filmed and the video made available after the concert for two weeks at $10 per household. Those wanting the video should email their request to [email protected].
