Feilding Steam Rail is excited to run a steam locomotive through the gorge from Feilding and invites you to join us on a leisurely trip through the Manawatu Gorge to Woodville and return to Feilding.
The train will consist of 1940 vintage carriages and 1915 WW644 ex-NZR steam locomotive.
The train will depart from Feilding and travel to Palmerston North to pick up more passengers. You will be able to watch our locomotive swap ends for the run through to Woodville.
The Manawatu Gorge railway line has two tunnels and offers a view of the former State Highway, showing it clinging to the cliff and bridged by many small bridges.
An hour has been allowed at Woodville and refreshments will be available for purchase on the platform.
We will return to Palmerston North railway station and the locomotive will swap ends for its run back to Feilding.
