The Recliner Rockers are a high-energy powerhouse, synonymous with Whangamata Beach Hop and hot rod festivals across Aotearoa. With thrilling stage antics and electrifying performances, they’ve become crowd favorites both locally and internationally.
Formed two decades ago, the band blends showmanship with top-tier musicianship. Frontman Al Lavis (guitar/vocals), a Sly Groovers veteran, delivers smooth bluesy vocals and blistering solos. Geoff “Fitzi” Fitzpatrick (electric/upright bass) brings deep experience, having supported Simple Minds and ex-Stray Cats’ Slim Jim Phantom—plus, don’t miss his legendary double bass balancing act.
Acclaimed saxophonist Bruce French has lent his smoky, soulful sound to icons like Sonny Day and Ritchie Pickett, while Nic Hulme-Chivel, the newest member, adds a dynamic touch honed through country, blues, and funk/soul circuits.
With multiple albums, including their debut Tracks, The Recliner Rockers craft unforgettable original songs alongside a fiery mix of rootsy rockabilly power-blues covers.
