The Globe Sunday Matinee series often features mature performers performing mature concert repertoire. However, it is pleasing to know that there are young performers in Palmerston North who are also committed to performing concert music at a very high level.
On Sunday May 24th tenors Armani Whitehead-Wilson and Tyler Tamihana, and baritone Carson Taare will present a vocal concert at the Globe in which each will sing solos, with music by Bach, Purcell, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Verdi, Duparc, Debussy, Vaughan Williams, Schonberg, Quilter and Kurt Weill. The concert will open with a Schubert trio and will conclude with the ever-popular Richard Rodgers number You’ll Never Walk Alone sung by the trio.
Armani and Tyler, besides having success as solo singers, are also members of the Palmerston North Boys High School vocal ensemble Manifesto and are tutored by Graeme Young, Head of Music at the school.
Carson, despite his youth already has a distinguished performing career in New Zealand and overseas and graduated with Distinction in his ATCL Diploma examination.
Guy Donaldson will accompany the singers for the programme at the Steinway grand piano.
Admission is by koha, recommended from $10.
