Te Hīkoi Toi

The new highway is now open, and you are keen to know more about the stunning artworks interwoven into Te Ahu a Turanga.

Visit mahi toi sites with Tohunga Toi Warren Warbrick (Rangitāne) and discover how the mahi toi, embedded in the highway, expresses relationships between the four Iwi involved in the project. Find out how the the tools and techniques of working with harakeke (flax) inspired large sculptures and infrastructure design work.

Hear Warren’s kōrero on site. Spend 90 mins at three locations in the Parahaki Bridge vicinity. Then choose whether to self-drive to two other locations on the highway.
