Learn the fascinating history of selling livestock, one of New Zealand's oldest traditions, which dates back to the 1880s.
Feilding Saleyards Guided Tours occur every Friday at 11am.
It's an opportunity to see a live stock auction, and get up close to dogs, sheep, cows and other farm animals. The tour guides all have experience farming in the local area, and one is a former drover.
Each week the stock sales at Feilding Saleyards turn over approximately $2mNZD and are important to the local economy. They're held on the original saleyards used in 1880, which are just two blocks from the town centre.
Tours last approximately one to two hours, following which visitors are encouraged to explore the town.
Advance bookings are essential.
