After 38 years in bookselling and publishing, Bruce was attracted to a space in the new City Library, which the architect saw as a bookshop. He had always wanted his own bookshop and when this appeared with the entrance to George Street, he went for it. In naming the shop, he meant “Booksellers “to be his team of good ones around him, and that happened and continues to happen. His daughter Louisa joined him very soon after opening, and is now managing the whole shop. He designed the shop, its colours, lighting and music to give a calming and relaxing atmosphere, but with an air of seriousness in its selection and breadth of stock, and with an attitude of modernity and progression. Bruce McKenzie and his booksellers claim to be very good at tracking and delivering any book in print. Their in store and online help for their customers is their life.
