Take a fully guided tour of Foxton's unique, operational, replica of a 17th century Dutch flour mill. You will learn about the construction and operation of this Horowhenua landmark, why it came to be built in a small town in New Zealand and the tenacity of the community that made it happen, along, with history notes of our town and Dutch Wind and Water mills. Ascending three floors, you'll get up close (and maybe involved) with the operational areas of the mill, along with a chance to see its inner workings, sails turning and giant mill stones turning grain into flour (this is wind dependant). Venture out to the viewing balcony to see the surrounding landscape. (Bring your camera). Be sure to stock up on Dutch treats at the market.
