High Country Enchantment - Full Day Horse Trek

A full-day trek for intermediate to advanced riders through dramatic high country near Taihape, with views of Mt Ruapehu and the Ruahine Ranges. Small groups, personalised matching, Natural Horsemanship approach. Picnic lunch included.

River Valley Stables rides at some of the highest elevations of any trekking operation in New Zealand. The High Country Enchantment takes you through steep hill country and working farmland, with expansive views of Mt Ruapehu and the Ruahine Ranges as your reward. Groups are small, horses are matched carefully to each rider, and a Natural Horsemanship and freestyle riding introduction sets you up before heading into the hills. Our horses are ridden in halters rather than bits and kept barefoot year-round, with a professional trimmer attending every six weeks - a philosophy that riders consistently notice in the saddle. All equipment and picnic lunch included. Intermediate to advanced only.
Conditions:
1 November–18 April. Only Intermediate or Advanced riders will be taken on this trip.
