Te Arapiki a Tāne is home to He Kupu Rangatira – The Proverb Pathway, a site-specific arts project that celebrates our bicultural foundations and our multiculturally diverse city through recreational activity. The pathway supports community unity through the wisdom of proverbs from around the world.
The name, Te Arapiki a Tāne describes the role of Tāne Mahuta in the Māori creation story. Bringing light into the world by separating Ranginui – sky father, and Papatūānuku - earth mother. The name is also attributed to the achievements of Tāne Mahuta, as well as people today who embrace the spirit of active living.
This steep and challenging trail is close to 600 steps taking you down the cliffside reserve to the Manawatū Awa (river).
