A viewing platform along the He Ara Kotahi pathway which offers an unobstructed view of our beautiful awa (river) and city. The lookout - a two-storey cantilevered platform was built in 2022 to give homage to Te Pūhara o Turitea, a traditional site of Rangitāne.
Te Pūhara o Turitea (the sentry watchtower of Turitea) was between nine and 15 metres tall and provided Rangitāne people with an unobstructed 360-degree view of anyone coming up or down the river.
Learn more about the significance of Te Pūhara o Turitea through the digital experience, He Ara Kotahi, Hei Ara Kōrero.
