Dog Paradise

DOG PARADISE

Our four-legged friends are often the most spoilt members of our families, so pet parents will be delighted by Palmerston North city’s newest addition in dog entertainment and agility.

Ahimate Dog park

Ahimate Dog Park Palmerston North, Manawatu

Whether you live here or are visiting with your pet, Ahimate Dog Park is a must-visit destination for you and your dog.

In Ahimate Reserve, best accessed via Maxwell’s Line in Awapuni, lies 3,000 square metres of pure pooch playground. A fully-fenced dog park featuring six pieces of dog agility equipment, surrounded by pathways leading through grasslands and along the banks of the Manawatū River.

The Ahimate Dog Park provides everything for the perfect dog day out from water-drinking basins, to wash stations and waste disposal bags. Ahimate Reserve holds great cultural significance to local iwi Rangitāne who contributed to the fence design, which is reminiscent of a pā entry.

While the entire reserve is off-leash, the fenced enclosure provides an ideal social gathering spot for dogs of all shapes and sizes to interact in a relaxed setting for both dog and owner.

What’s really neat is the park’s development came as a direct result of community members making submissions to the city’s Annual Plan asking for a fenced-in area for dogs.
