MAVtech is New Zealand's specialist museum of audio and visual technology. We showcase the machines which paved the way towards the smartphones in our pockets- as well as the 'dead ends' which tell of a forgotten future.
Our collection includes cameras, radios, televisions, cinema equipment (in fact, the museum building is a 1920s cinema!), cine cameras, camcorders, recorded sound and music players.
On the opening day we will be demonstrating cameras, recorded sound and the majestic player piano (no musical skills needed!) At 2pm we will be screening newsreels and cartoons in the cinema.
We are open from 1pm-4pm. Admission is $6 per adult and free for supervised children. Eftpos is available.
