First things first, a good day starts with great coffee! In Feilding you are spoilt for choice, from Focal Point Cafe to Two Locals, Delish to KR’s, the choice is yours. Plus, each has their own tasty morsels to keep you going for morning tea!
Tip from the Locals: If you’ve got kids, you’ll want to check out Beyond Coffee. Located in The Square opposite Paper Plus, the upstairs area here includes a kids' play space that will give you time to enjoy that first sip in peace.


If you are lucky enough to be in Feilding on a Friday, the next stop has to be the award-winning Farmers’ Market. Pick up your veggies for the week, stock up on artisan honeys, cheeses and chutneys, choose a bunch of hand-picked flowers, or treat yourself to a baked goodie at BABCO’s pop-up. Any other day of the week, morning tea wouldn’t be complete without a visit to one of the iconic bakeries in town. You’ll find Rosebowl in its expansive, purpose-built cafe or tucked away on the opposite side of the square is Beresford, where you might like to indulge in their award-winning donuts!
Tip from the Locals: For bulk, organic or specialty, hard to find products, check out Bin Inn. Free range eggs, locally produced sauces, bulk seeds and grains and even eco-friendly cleaning supplies – they have it all!
Now your pantry (and belly) is fully stocked, it’s time for a bit of retail therapy! Everything is close in the CBD. Take a stroll through the array of boutique shops from Salt and Honey to Turners Gifts & Luggage or check out a bit of a hidden gem, Smitten. For something truly unique, The Wool Flock might be for you with handmade knitted goodies or patterns and supplies to give it a go yourself.
Op Shopping is your thing, you can take your pick from one of five all within five minutes' walk from one another. Whether you're perusing the Sallies or on the hunt for top quality labels at Turnaround, you’re sure to walk away with one-of-a-kind vintage items and pre-loved pieces that are also a good choice for the environment!
Looking for the kids? Then you can’t go past Children’s Wardrobe, home to all the essentials plus top clothing labels, games and toys. Straight across the road is Turners Sports, a stalwart in the Feilding shopping scene, providing fishing, hunting, outdoors and general sports products for 70+ years. And no shopping day in Feilding is complete without a visit to the iconic Gracies to check out the latest fashion for men and women, with labels from across New Zealand, Europe, Canada and Australia.
Tip from the Locals: Skip the Temu order and head to one of our locally owned $2+ stores. With three options to choose from, all located in the centre of town, they’ll have you covered!


If your shopping variety of choice is home furnishings, then locally owned stores like Gutherie Bowron and Flooring Xtra are must see stores! They have a great range of beautiful collectibles which will elevate every space in your home.
Tip from the Locals: Peter Andrews Furnishers, located in a charming historic building on Kimbolton Road, offers quality furnishings and unique homeware if you are looking for that extra special piece.
Shopping not really your thing? The Coach House Museum might be more your style. Open seven days, take a trip down memory lane, through the golden days of Manawatū’s 150 year-rural history. Or for an art and culture fix, visit the Feilding and District Art Society. Established in 1969, the society host art workshops and exhibitions as well as run a shop filled with unique art objects by local creators.
Tip from the Locals: If you're in town on a Friday, keep the history lesson going with a trip to the Feilding Saleyards. With 330 sheep pens and 15,000 sheep sold weekly, this is the largest livestock saleyard in the Southern Hemisphere. Plus, sign up for a guided saleyard tour run by knowledgeable local farmers to get the full Saleyards experience.


After all that pavement pounding, it must be time to kick up your feet! For $15 you can get yourself sorted with lunch at The Farmers Son or Murray’s Irish Bar – plus grab a cold brew while you’re at it. Or if you are on the go, the various sushi bars, Indian or Thai cuisine will see you right.
Tip from the Locals: Need a sugar rush to get you through the arvo? You are in luck; Lollies NZ is based in Feilding and has a great selection onsite – take a step back in time and visit this good old fashioned candy store!
Get moving again with a visit to one of the local parks – Kōwhai Park is a great spot with the largest playground in town and a well populated duck pond to entertain the kids. Try the bush walk accompanied by the story, That’s Not A Hippopotamus, written by Juliette MacIver and illustrated by Sarah Davis. Or if you’re keen to stay in town, check out the newly developed Te Āhuru Mōwai - Manawatū Community Hub Library. With an extensive range of books and puzzles, a maker's space (including 3D printer), a kids play area, half sized basketball court and a popular cafe, it’s a one stop shop for a satisfying afternoon!
Tip from the Locals: Just a short stroll over the bridge is the Makino Aquatic Centre. Follow the Pu and Ru’s Bird Beak Clues story walk by Jez Smith and Ned Barraud, to get there. You may even want to stop for a spot of mini golf at the iconic Feilding Mini Golf on your way.


Want to take some time out for yourself? Try a hair treatment at The Shed, ROME or Tart Hairdressing. Adore or Essential Skin and Body are great spots for a relaxing massage or indulge in a facial with Feilding’s very own Caci Clinic. Plus, the recently renovated Saigon Nails on Manchester Street is a great spot for a mani-pedi!
Tip from the Locals: Looking for a fresh cut for the guys? Call into Stewarts or Bex Barbershop who are open to walk ins.
That should just about do it for a day! Spend the evening at one of the local restaurants. The Strong Room is popular with locals and visitors, serving lunch, dinner, and tapas – plus a range of drink options including cocktails and, in the winter, their famous mulled wine. For an international dining experience check out the new Global Street Food offering the world on a plate, street food style or check out the popular Four Flames for mouthwatering Indian cuisine.
Tip from the Locals: For dinner with a view, The Feilding Golf Course is home to a public restaurant The Club House Cafe. A great, relaxed option on the outskirts of town.
