Barista Cafe, 59 George Street

Barista

George Street is a Palmerston North gem and home to several fantastic cafes and restaurants. One of our favourites is Barista Cafe. Complete with a huge surrealist mural that captures the eye before you even walk in, Barista is fully stocked (and licensed) with all the tasty food, coffee and teas you’ll need to keep you going while you work. Living beneath the city library has its advantages, too, frequent library users can reach Wi-Fi from the cafe and connect for free.

Wholegrain Organics, 134 The Square

Wholegrain Organics

With a delicious plant-based menu and shelves lined with organic fruit, veges, other ingredients and nifty eco-products, this light-filled space is ideal to park up over lunch and work. Best of all, Wholegrain Organics is a not-for-profit organisation – they teach schoolkids how to cook healthy meals in a professional environment using organic and ethically sourced ingredients, including flour and grains produced in their own mill! So, why not support a local business that’s doing good things for your body while also doing good things for your community?
