Palmerston North and Manawatū is home to over 7,000 service personnel, civilians and families connected to the Defence sector with numbers regularly increasing with planned investment in our local defence bases – Linton and Ohakea.
Also located within two hours of the city are Waiouru and Trentham camps.

Did you know approximately 230 personnel are relocating to Ohakea from Whenuapai with the purchase of the Poseidon aircraft?  Ohakea will soon be home to No 5 Squadron, which will provide airborne surveillance and maritime patrol using four P8 Poseidon aircrafts.
